In Sunbridge’s eyes

A quiet value pick that grew into a flagship contender

GoodWe came to Australia early — on the ground here since around 2012, when a Chinese inverter brand with a Melbourne office was still a rarity. For years it was the quiet value pick: solid hybrid inverters and Lynx Home batteries that installers trusted but few shouted about. The ESA all-in-one changed the conversation — a genuinely modern, integrated battery system that put GoodWe squarely in the flagship fight.

  • Easy to install — the ESA’s all-in-one design cuts wiring and commissioning time.
  • Strong build and safety — IP66, fanless under 30 dB, six-layer battery protection and AFCI 3.0 arc detection.
  • Real value for money — flagship features without the flagship price.
  • Stable and backed — 10-year inverter and battery warranties, and a No.3-in-Australia shipping track record.
Best suited to

households chasing a well-priced, whole-home-backup all-in-one from a proven global maker.

The right fit for your home — and fully backed

Why the ESA Series Home Battery fits your home

Large three-phase homes

A factory pre-wired all-in-one inverter and LFP battery, scalable to 108 kWh across all three phases for larger households.

Fast, tidy installation

Because the inverter and battery are integrated rather than bolted together from separate brands, installation is faster with fewer points of failure.

Whole-home backup

Backup switchover under 4 ms keeps essential and whole-home loads running through an outage.

Smart energy management

An AI-driven EMS shifts usage to the cheapest tariff periods, and the SolarGo app shows generation, storage and consumption at a glance.

Warranty & compliance
  • The GoodWe ESA Series battery modules (GW5.1-BAT-D-G21 and GW8.3-BAT-D-G21) are covered by GoodWe’s Limited Warranty for the BAT Series, which has two parts.
  • A 10-year product warranty covers the hardware — the electronics and the enclosure — against defects for ten years from the warranty start date.
  • A 10-year performance warranty guarantees that, over those ten years, the battery retains at least 70% of its usable energy, or until it reaches its minimum guaranteed energy throughput — whichever comes first. That throughput is set at 3 MWh of DC energy for every kWh of usable battery capacity, based on the equivalent of one full cycle per day. Capacity expansion is supported, so further modules can be added over time.
  • These are the manufacturer’s terms; your guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law apply in addition. Sunbridge confirms the warranty terms that apply to your configuration and registers the warranty on your behalf as part of the installation.
Rebates & payback guidance
  • Home battery storage can be eligible for government rebates and incentives, which change over time and vary by state and by household. A well-chosen, correctly sized GoodWe ESA system — paired with the right rebate — can meaningfully shorten your payback period.
  • Sunbridge handles rebate guidance as part of the quote process: we check current eligibility, factor available incentives into your system design, and show you the expected payback based on your actual usage. See our battery rebate guidance for more, and we will confirm what applies to your address when you request a quote.

“Up to 30% off your bill” — the AI picks the timing

“Up to 30% off your bill” — the AI picks the timing

A battery only saves money based on when it charges and discharges. The ESA reads tomorrow’s forecast, your usage pattern and your tariff, then plans the day automatically — soak up solar before a cloudy afternoon, hold charge for the 4–9 pm peak. The 30% is GoodWe’s figure for what that scheduling adds over a battery that just charges whenever the sun is out.

5–108 kWh — buy for today, expand later

A typical Australian home uses 8–12 kWh between sunset and sunrise, so around 10 kWh covers most households’ evenings. The ESA stacks 5–9 kWh modules up to 108 kWh, and you can add modules — even different sizes — to an existing stack years later when an EV or a heat pump arrives.

“1C” — fills or empties in about an hour

“1C” — fills or empties in about an hour

C-rate is how fast a battery moves energy relative to its size. At 1C a 10 kWh battery takes in or pushes out 10 kW; many home batteries are 0.5C and take twice as long. It matters on short winter days, and when the oven, aircon, hot water and EV charger all come on at once.

30 dB and under 4 ms — you never notice it working

30 dB and under 4 ms — you never notice it working

30 dB is about a quiet library; a domestic fridge runs at 40–45 dB, so the unit can go on the wall that suits your switchboard rather than the far side of the house. And when the grid drops, the switch to battery takes under four thousandths of a second — computers do not reboot, the modem stays online. A generator takes 10–30 seconds.
