Brand against brand
Two brands matched size for size: the same supply, usable energy within 10% and the same inverter output.
- GoodWe vs Sigenergy
12 matched sizes. GoodWe costs less at all 12, by $559 to $3,434 without backup.
- Anker SOLIX vs Sigenergy
Two matched sizes, both three-phase. Of the two, Anker SOLIX costs $201 less at one, and at the other they are within $100, without backup.
- GoodWe vs SolaX
Six matched sizes. GoodWe costs less at all six, by $495 to $2,308 without backup.
- Sigenergy vs SolaX
Six matched sizes. SolaX costs less at all six, by $503 to $1,554 without backup.
How we compare
Prices come from Sunbridge Energy's written quotes, issued 20 October 2026 and valid until 19 November 2026. Each includes GST, the listed equipment and standard installation and commissioning, with the federal battery rebate (Cheaper Home Batteries Program) deducted at the rate for an installation on the quote date. The rebate is set by the installation date, and eligibility is confirmed before installation. Prices are the same in NSW, VIC and QLD.
These options and site work can add to a price, and each written quote sets them out: garage installation +$500, new concrete slab +$250, cable beyond 5 m +$30 per metre, remove old inverter +$300, remove old battery +$600, remove old inverter and battery +$900 and switchboard upgrade up to $1,500.
Specifications come from the manufacturers' datasheets for each battery module and inverter. Where a datasheet we hold leaves a figure out, we say so rather than estimate it. For 32 of the 62 systems, the inverter datasheet gives no separate limit for power drawn from the battery, so we show the inverter's output and, where it is lower, the batteries' own rating instead of a combined figure. Price per usable kWh and warranty energy are calculated by Sunbridge from these figures.
We only compare systems built for the same supply, and we group sizes by usable energy. Brand comparisons pair systems with usable energy within 10% and the same inverter output, and say so when they can't. A figure counts as different only when the gap is large enough to matter: $100 of price, $10 per usable kWh, 0.5 kWh of usable energy, 0.5 kW of inverter output, 1 kW of solar input, one year of warranty, 5% of warranty energy or 5 kg of weight.
We supply and install every system on this page and earn from each installation, so this is not an independent review. We only list the six brands we install. Brands we don't install, such as Tesla, Sungrow and BYD, are not here.
Questions about comparing home batteries
Which home battery is best in Australia?
No single battery is best for every home. It depends on your supply, how much energy you use between evening and morning, whether you want backup, and the solar you have or plan. Compare systems of the same size and supply on usable energy, price per usable kWh, inverter size, solar input and warranty. This page does that for the 62 systems we install.
Why can two batteries of a similar size cost so differently?
Systems of the same size differ in inverter size, how much solar they take, warranty terms, mounting and the cost of adding backup. Among single-phase systems of 25 to 35 kWh usable, price per usable kWh runs from $240 to $444. The lowest, ESY 29.2 kWh usable, has a 6 kW inverter that takes solar panels up to 8 kW; most others have 10 kW inverters that take up to 20 kW.
Do these prices include backup?
No. Backup is a priced option on each written quote. Partial backup adds $500 on most systems and $1,456 to $1,681 on Sigenergy, which includes a Sigen Gateway. Full house backup is offered on three-phase packages only. Which circuits are backed up is worked out at the inspection.
Is the federal battery rebate included?
Yes. Each price has the federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate deducted at the rate for an installation on the quote date. The rebate is set by the installation date and can change, and eligibility is confirmed before installation.
What is the difference between rated and usable kWh?
Packages are named by their rated size. Usable energy is what you can actually draw from a full battery. Some brands keep a reserve: for example, the SolaX systems here give 90% of their rated size as usable energy, while Sigenergy systems give 100%.
How do I know if my home is single-phase or three-phase?
It is shown on your switchboard and your electricity bill, and we confirm it at the inspection.
Why aren't Tesla, Sungrow or BYD listed?
We only list the six brands Sunbridge Energy supplies and installs, priced from our own written quotes. We don't price systems we don't install.
What happens when you book
Choose a time and the inspection goes straight into your local branch's calendar. It takes about 20 minutes. We confirm your supply, where the system goes and whether anything changes the price, before anything is final.
