Battery rebates for Sydney homes
Sydney households can stack two incentives. The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program, which began on 1 July 2025, provides a discount on the upfront cost of installing an eligible battery (roughly 5–100 kWh). From 1 May 2026 the discount moved to a tiered rate by battery size, designed to keep the saving at around 25% across small, medium and large systems.
On top of that, the NSW Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS) offers an incentive of up to $1,500 when you install a battery and connect it to a Virtual Power Plant (VPP). The two programs are designed to work together — as a guide, the NSW Government has said a typical 11.5 kWh system can attract combined support of close to $5,000.
Eligibility, amounts and VPP requirements change over time and depend on your system and household. Sunbridge checks what currently applies to your address and handles the rebate paperwork as part of your quote. See our battery rebate guidance for more detail.
