Rebates
The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program applies across the Gold Coast and all of Queensland. From 1 May 2026 it pays a tiered rate worth roughly $250–270 per usable kWh on the first 14 kWh — as a guide, around $2,500–$2,700 off a typical 10 kWh battery, applied as a discount on your install invoice rather than claimed back later.
Queensland’s state Battery Booster rebate closed to new applications when the federal program launched in 2025, so the federal incentive is now the active battery rebate on the Gold Coast. Sunbridge factors the current discount into your quote so you can see your real out-of-pocket cost up front.

Salt air is corrosive, so coastal installs get outdoor-rated (IP65/IP66) enclosures, corrosion-resistant racking and marine-grade fixings where the site calls for them, with racking engineered to AS/NZS 1170.2 wind loading for coastal South East Queensland. Where the battery mounts — garage versus exposed wall — is part of the design conversation.
The Gold Coast sits on the Energex network: new and replacement solar must be remotely curtailable under the emergency backstop, and Dynamic Connections allows exports up to 10 kW per phase when capacity allows. One border nuance — Tweed Heads and suburbs south of the border are on the NSW network with NSW incentives, so the rules change at Coolangatta.
Like the rest of SEQ, there is no regulated minimum feed-in tariff on the Gold Coast — typical retailer rates run 4–13 c/kWh and many plans cap the headline rate after the first few kilowatt-hours exported each day. Self-consuming stored solar through the evening beats exporting it.

The Gold Coast enjoys high sunshine hours and strong solar generation, while warm, humid summers drive air-conditioning use into the evening — when stored battery energy is most valuable. A battery lets you self-consume your solar instead of exporting it at a low feed-in rate.
